Summary
The preservative treatment of four different wood based board materials using an esterified borate applied in the vapour phase was investigated. Under optimum conditions complete impregnation via the board faces was achieved in all boards treated. Board moisture content and treatment time had a major influence on retention and depth of penetration of the borate vapour.
