Abstract
Scientific literacy is a new consideration in the teaching of science and for teachers it raises many questions: what does scientific literacy mean particularly in terms of student learning?; How is it evident in the classroom?; and, Will it require changes to present planning, teaching and assessment practices? Many of these questions can only be answered by teachers themselves as they explore these issues in their practice.
