Abstract
Why do plants have photoreceptors? What selective advantage does the possession of phytochrome and the blue(B)/UV-absorbing photoreceptor confer? Does the operation of the photoreceptors in plants growing in the natural environment reflect what we have learnt about them from laboratory experiments?
