Abstract
Molecular outflows from young stellar objects represent one of the earliest manifestations of the birth of a young star. Recent observations have found flows with CO velocities in excess of 150 km s−-1, discrete molecular “bullets”, and a high degree of collimation. In this article we review the general properties of molecular outflows, highlight some recent observations which illustrate certain characteristics of the outflow phenomenon, discuss some of the statistical properties of the nearly 200 outflows currently known, and discuss models of the CO emission region.
