Abstract
Gangs are a big and well-known problem in the United States. It is no accident that for quite some time now these gangs have occupied a prominent position in American criminological literature. Publications about Dutch juvenile gangs are still rare, however. What the Dutch know about this phenomenon is based on information from outside, for instance about gang wars like the one between the Crips and the Bloods in Los Angeles.
