Postoperative Electrophysiological Findings in Patients with Pituitary Adenoma

  • Chapter
Visual Pathways

Part of the book series: Documenta Ophthalmologica Proceedings Series ((DOPS,volume 27))

Abstract

The authors have carried out electrodiagnostic examinations in 12 patients after resection of a pituitary adenoma. In almost every patient changes in the EOG, ERG and VECP could be evinced. The cause of both hormonal effects and mechanical influences on the visual pathway structures is discussed in terms of a disturbance of the equilibrium of centrifugal and centripetal pathways.
