Abstract
Despite the fact that data collection and analyses have been going on for more than two decades, there is still considerable controversy concerning the relative seismic coupling efficiency of underground nuclear explosions in various source media and the dependence of this coupling on the explosive yield of the device. In the present study, the available data sources have been reviewed and evaluated and an attempt has been made to reconcile them within the framework of an approximate body wave coupling model.
