Ethnogeographic Patterns in Gallbladder Cancer

  • Chapter
Epidemiology of Cancer of the Digestive Tract

Part of the book series: Developments in Oncology ((DION,volume 6))

Abstract

In the past few years a great deal of information has been compiled regarding interpopulation variation in carcinoma of the gallbladder. The primary purpose of the present paper is to review this information. A secondary purpose is to consider the form and pattern of interpopulation variation in the light of recent work on gallbladder cancer in the tri ethnic population of New Mexico. Finally, a series of conclusions will be drawn about the meaning of such variation as it pertains to a possible causal mechanism for the disease.
