Abstract
This review aims to relate some aspects of plant growth to the physiological functions of Mn within the plant. Yields of crops, pastures and trees are affected adversely by either deficiencies or excesses (toxicities) of Mn. Concomitantly, symptoms of the disorder usually but not always appear on leaves, roots or fruits. It is these extremes of Mn nutrition that have been largely responsible for elucidating its physiology.
