Abstract
Social intelligence design is a new research area aimed at designing new computer-mediated communication systems based on in-depth understanding of intelligence as a social phenomenon. The social intelligence design perspective is necessary to have the technologies of Web intelligence successfully embedded into the human society and amalgamated with the everyday life. Important applications of social intelligence design are group support systems, ranging from those for small groups and teams to those for the entire society, and from those for supporting communication to those for more specific applications such as knowledge management or collaborative design. Followed by a brief survey of social intelligence design, I present three approaches to community support systems with much emphasis on the use of conversations and stories. I also discuss issues on evaluation and technical aspects.
