Zusammenfassung
Bildungsaspirationen stellen angestrebte Ziele in Bezug auf zukünftige Bildungsergebnisse dar. Viele Studien haben nachgewiesen, dass die Bildungsaspirationen von Kindern und ihren Eltern einen positiven Einfluss auf ihre Schulleistungen und Bildungsentscheidungen ausüben und damit als wichtige Determinante von Bildungsergebnissen angesehen werden können. Es zeigt sich empirisch, dass in Familien mit Migrationshintergrund oftmals höhere Bildungsaspirationen vorhanden sind als in Familien ohne Migrationshintergrund, auch bei oftmals schlechteren Schulleistungen. Dieses Phänomen wird auch als „Aspiration-Achievement-Paradox“ bezeichnet. In diesem Kapitel werden verschiedene Mechanismen vorgestellt, die die überdurchschnittlichen Bildungsaspirationen in Migrantenfamilien erklären könnten. Im Anschluss werden die Ergebnisse empirischer Studien präsentiert, die einen Überblick über den diesbezüglichen Forschungsstand geben.
