Zusammenfassung
Frauen und Männer üben unterschiedliche Berufe aus und sind innerhalb von Berufen auf unterschiedlichen Hierarchieebenen tätig. Diese berufliche Trennung ist ein bedeutsames und stabiles Merkmal des Arbeitsmarktes, das eng mit Geschlechterungleichheiten verknüpft ist. Das Kapitel behandelt die Ursachen der anhaltenden Geschlechtertrennung in der Arbeitswelt sowie die Folgen für erwerbstätige Männer und Frauen. Dafür stellt die Autorin zunächst ökonomische und soziologische Erklärungsansätze vor und erläutert wichtige Definitionen und Messkonzepte. Anschließend fasst sie zentrale empirische Ergebnisse zusammen und diskutiert Implikationen für zukünftige Forschung und Politik.
