Abstract
This chapter is concerned with ways of assessing clinical outcome in patients with eating disorders. To begin with consideration will be given to matters of methodology relevant to follow-up studies both in general and with specific reference to eating disorders. Following this the various specialised instruments which may be of use in standardising such clinical assessment will be described and their respective roles evaluated.
It is with great regret that we have to report the recent death of Miss Joan Purgold.
