Abstract
Generally one can consider the “quality of a network design” to be made up of three factors: Economy, Precision and Reliability. Economy then expresses the costs of observation, transport, monumentation, etc.; Precision as expressed by the a posteriori covariance matrix of the coordinates, is the measure of the network’s characteristics in propagating random errors and Reliability describes the ability of the redundant observations to check model errors.
