Abstract
A comprehensive bone and cartilage transplant program was established at the Mount Sinai Hospital, University of Toronto, in 1971. Previous research carried out at the Mount Sinai Institute and at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in London (under the supervision of Prof. Geoffrey Burwell) had established the following facts concerning the immunogenicity of bone and cartilage.
