Zusammenfassung
Die pathomorphologische Begutachtung ist das zuverlässigste diagnostische Verfahren für Tumoren des Gastrointestinaltrakts. Der Pathologe erfüllt dabei in der Zusammenarbeit mit dem Chirurgen drei grundsätzliche Aufgaben (Tab. 1):
-
Die Diagnosesicherung vor Therapie durch histologische Untersuchung kleiner Probeexzisionen bzw. Biopsien,
-
eine rasche intraoperative Abklärung zweifelhafter Befunde durch das Schnellschnittverfahren,
-
die postoperative Bestätigung der Indikation sowie Bestimmung prognostisch relevanter Parameter nach Aufarbeitung des Operationspräparates (pathologisches Staging, R-Klassifikation).
