Zusammenfassung
Die Wirtschaft ist auf der Suche nach den Regeln der ‚New Economy ‘[Kelly 1998], die andere als Digital Economy (vgl. [Negroponte 1995], [Tapscott 1995]), Networked Economy [Shapiro/Varian 1999], Information Economy [Varian 1994], Internet Economy [Zerdick et al. 1999] oder als das Informationszeitalter [Lane 1998] bezeichnet haben. Die Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologie (IT)1 ermöglicht neue Geschäftslösungen und Wirtschafts Strukturen in gleicher Weise wie Dampf und Elektrizität vor hundert Jahren den Wandel der Agrarwirt- schaft in die Industriewirtschaft eingeleitet haben.
Angesichts des Zusammenfließens von Informationsverarbeitung und Kommunikation wird die Kombination von Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien als IT bezeichnet.
