Auszug
Vor dem Hintergrund der Diskussionen um die „neue“ Immigration wird die These begrifflich, theoretisch und empirisch begründet, wonach das Konzept der Assimilation nach wie vor eine relevante Bezugsgröße für die Analyse der Entwicklung der intergenerationalen Integration von Migranten ist. Dabei werden die zur Assimilation denkbaren Alternativen, wie die Marginalisierung der Migranten, ethnische Pluralisierungen, ethnische Segmentationen und ethnische Schichtungen auch vor dem Hintergrund der Besonderheiten moderner, funktional differenzierter Gesellschaften diskutiert und beurteilt.
