Zusammenfassung
Die Werbeetats der größten werbungtreibenden Unternehmen in Deutschland lagen 1991 bei deutlich über 100 Mio. DM (C&A Brenninkmeyer 218,6 Mio. DM, Procter & Gamble 180 Mio. DM, Ferrero 156,6 Mio. DM, o. V. 1992, S. 10). In den USA liegen die größten Etats sogar bei über 1 Mrd. $. Bei einigen Firmen übersteigt dieser Etat den Jahresgewinn. Angesichts dieser Größenordnungen sollte man eine außerordentlich sorgfältige Planung und Kontrolle dieser Etats und ihrer Allokation auf die einzelnen Produkte, verschiedenen Werbeträger, Absatzgebiete und Zeiträume vermuten. Einschlägigen Untersuchungen zufolge ist dem aber nicht so: Es überwiegen einfache Faustregeln.
