Summary
Chemical signals evaporating from secretions of different exocrine glands modulate the caste-specific polyethism in termite societies in a context-dependent manner. The sternal gland, the labial glands, and the frontal gland from Schedorhinotermes lamanianus are described. The chemical signals from the secretions of these glands have multiple intra- and interspecific functions and may be interactive
