Abstract
In information systems, each application data is replicated to multiple virtual machines installed in multiple physical servers to realize reliable and available application services. While reliable and available application services can be provided by data replication schemes, a larger amount of electric energy is consumed in a system than non-replication systems since each replicated data is manipulated on multiple virtual machines. In order to realize an energy-efficient data replication scheme, the power consumption model of a server to perform data access processes on multiple virtual machines has to be proposed. In this paper, the PCDAVM (power consumption model of a server for data access in virtual machine environments) is newly proposed to perform data access processes on multiple virtual machines in a server.
