Abstract

Research work presents the application of computational techniques for flood management in a Navsari city, situated in the coastal region of south Gujarat, India. Arc-GIS and HEC-RAS computational techniques are utilized to detect the extent of flood at a different cross-section of the research area. Steady flow analysis was carried out for the simulation of the model. Peak discharge and normal slope were applied as a boundary condition for simulation. Simulation of results show that due to peak discharge, cross-section-1 was not affected by the flood, but cross-Section 10 was affected by the flood. Through the present methodology, we can propose to construct flood wall to local authorities near the study area to mitigate flood. Moreover, flood risk map can be developed under peak discharge.
