Global Pathways to Water Sustainability

Abstract

This chapter discusses the contribution that global population growth is making to the difficulty of achieving water sustainability. Population growth, together with urbanization and the effects of climate change are resulting in water scarcity and other water-related problems in many parts of the globe. Particularly hard hit are the Middle East and North Africa, sub-Saharan Africa, China, India, small islands of Oceania, and the Southwestern USA.
