Abstract
In general, research on domestic violence in families with members who have experienced severe trauma is not comprehensive enough to fully describe the relationship between such trauma and domestic violence. More research on this topic is needed. Such domestic violence could occur in new families formed by trauma victims following their traumatic experiences or in established families in which some or all members have experienced severe trauma. The continuing effects of the trauma might also play a role in the initiation, continuation, or escalation of victimization or perpetration of domestic violence.
