Abstract

This chapter will review the history and current status of behavioral treatment focused on problems of sexual functioning in heterosexual couples. This type of treatment, once a secondary component of marital therapy, individual psychotherapy, and sex education, has come to be a more-or-less independent type of behaviorally oriented treatment, popularly referred to as “sex therapy.”
