Holographic Recording Materials

Part of the book series: Topics in Applied Physics ((TAP,volume 20))

Abstract

In the short time the chalcogenide glasses have been studied, they have come to provide several convenient alternatives to holographers. Either as simple evaporated films or in conjunction with a metal layer, holograms may be efficiently stored with a cw argon laser; efficient readout can be obtained in the spectral region of low absorption; and permanence can be achieved by etching and overcoating with appropriate metals.
