Ultrasound Imaging

Ultrasound has been widely investigated in biomedicine. Significant progress in understanding its physics and bioeffects, as well as engineering efforts in bringing ideas into fruition have been driving innovations in biological studies, clinical diagnosis and medical intervention. The aim of this special issue of the Journal of Medical and Biological Engineering (JMBE) is to provide a timely overview of the recent advances in the field of Biomedical Ultrasound covering the whole spectrum of sub-disciplines from basic science, biomedical engineering, to applications. We solicit your contributions to this Special Issue and the topics of interest include but are not limited to: Ultrasound imaging and system design; Novel ultrasound transducer technologies; Quantitative ultrasound and tissue characterization; Artificial intelligence in biomedical ultrasound; Ultrasound-guided therapy; Ultrasound assisted drug delivery; Bioeffects and therapeutic ultrasound; Preclinical ultrasound; Applications of ultrasound to biology.
