Advancements in hydrogeological knowledge of Haiti for recovery and development

Participating journal: Hydrogeology Journal

Eight articles advance hydrogeological knowledge of Haiti. This topical collection pulls together research since the 2010 earthquake and improves the understanding of Haiti’s alluvial aquifers, also directing attention to karst/carbonate mountain aquifer systems and the importance of mountain block recharge. Such insight will (i) encourage investment, (ii) guide research, (iii) direct critical monitoring, and (iv) support governance and management to protect and sustain the groundwater resource. Continued research strengthens the prospects of stability, socio-economic development and recovery following the earthquake. The entire collection is open access.
