Environmental Sustainability, Economic Viability, And Social Welfare in The Era of the Climate Crisis at the Interface of Ecosystem Services and Quality of Life

Environmental sustainability still attracts the interest of many researchers who seek ways to optimize processes and resources within socio-economic systems. Interestingly, social welfare status (e.g., prosperity, well-being, happiness) receives direct and indirect impacts of any change that occurs at the interface of natural resource exploitation (e.g., ecosystem services), intense economic activities (e.g., volatile market conditions, severe competition, globalization), and social systems.

This topical collection welcomes theoretical and empirical research that covers these interactions at a local, regional, national, and international level. Furthermore, this topical collection attempts to enrich existing knowledge regarding climate change conditions (e.g., hot, dry, windy phenomena) due to the unwise use of natural resources concerning socio-economic systems.

To deepen our knowledge, we encourage researchers to submit their works concerning new trends and future perspectives with broad appeal in quantitative and qualitative research that discuss and investigate the following topics under different theoretical backgrounds, methodological approaches, and econometric models.

Keywords: natural resource economics; sustainable tourism; environmental quality and degradation; pollution; macroeconomics and the environment; energy; economic development and expansion; sustainability; climate change and crisis; urban and rural development
