On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19) a pandemic. Given the changes this has brought to the lives of most people around the world, research and science on physical activity, physical education, sport and exercise has responded rapidly. Several Research articles, Discussions and Commentaries have already been published in the German Journal of Exercise and Sport Research (GJESR).
Because, unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic will not be over in 2021, and many research questions related to it remain to be answered, GJESR initiated this topical collection of articles. It aims to contribute to the dissemination of new research and expertise related to the pandemic, with a special focus on physical activity, physical education, sport and exercise.
