The mid-infrared to THz spectral range has become a region of increasing interest due to the recent advancements of laser technologies and a wide variety of scientific and technological applications. Numerous molecules, crystals and biological materials have strong rotational and vibrational resonances in this wavelength range, offering new opportunities for sensing, spectroscopy and imaging applications in science research, industry, environment, biomedi-cine, food safety, astronomy, and more. This topical issue is dedicated to covering the development of novel mid-infrared and THz lasers ranging from the continuous-wave to the ultrafast femtosecond domain, as well as their applications in science and technology.
