Sarcopenic obesity

Aging Clinical and Experimental Research (ACER) is dedicated to advancing knowledge and understanding in gerontology. In alignment with the journal's scope, the topic "Sarcopenic Obesity: Interplay of Muscle Loss and Adiposity in Aging" emerges as a pivotal area of investigation. Manuscripts exploring the following themes are particularly encouraged:

Epidemiology and Risk Factors: Examination of the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors associated with sarcopenic obesity in aging populations, including genetic predispositions, lifestyle factors, and metabolic dysregulation.

Pathophysiology and Mechanisms: Investigations into the underlying mechanisms linking sarcopenia and obesity, including adipose tissue inflammation, insulin resistance, hormonal imbalances, and the impact on muscle metabolism and function.

Clinical Implications and Health Outcomes: Assessment of the clinical implications and health outcomes of sarcopenic obesity, such as increased risk of falls, fractures, functional decline, cardiovascular diseases, and mortality in older adults.

Diagnostic Criteria and Assessment Tools: Development and validation of diagnostic criteria and assessment tools for sarcopenic obesity, including imaging techniques, anthropometric measures, and functional tests to facilitate early detection and targeted interventions.

ACER welcomes original research articles, reviews, and clinical studies that contribute to advancing knowledge and informing practice in the field of sarcopenic obesity. By addressing this critical intersection, ACER aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration and promote holistic approaches to optimize muscle and adipose tissue health in aging populations.
