Computational Interpretation of Human Genetic Variation

This special collection of Human Genetics includes review articles and original research summarizing and presenting advances in computational interpretation of human genetic variation.

Human variation is considered in the broad sense, including germline and somatic, coding and noncoding, with phenotypic effects ranging from protein and RNA function to complex diseases such as autism spectrum disorder and cancer.

The articles focus on fundamental biology, clinical analysis, and machine learning.

    Yana Bromberg, PhD, Rutgers University, USA

    Yana Bromberg is a Professor of Bioinformatics at Rutgers University. She received her B.A./B.Eng. degrees from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and her Ph.D. from Columbia University.Prof. Bromberg’s research interests are in computational analyses of molecular functions of genes, genomes, and metagenomes. Her work has been recognized by several awards, including the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER award and the Hans-Fischer Fellowship of the Institute for Advanced Study at the Technical University of Munich. She is currently a Vice President of the International Society for Computational Biology.

    Predrag Radivojac, PhD, Northeastern University, USA

    Predrag Radivojac is a Professor of Computer Science at Northeastern University. He received his B.Sc. degree from the University of Novi Sad, M.Sc. from the University of Belgrade, and Ph.D. from Temple University. His research interests span the areas of computational biology, biomedical informatics, and machine learning. Prof. Radivojac received the U.S. National Science Foundation CAREER Award. He was an August-Wilhelm Scheer Visiting Professor and an Honorary Fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study at the Technical University of Munich. He is currently the President-elect of the International Society for Computational Biology.
