General Conclusion

Abstract

In this conclusion, we draw on the book’s chapters to briefly reflect on the status of the field of international environmental politics (IEP) as a whole and to return to the cross-cutting themes and queries raised in the introduction — North-South relations, domestic-international linkages, and the role of the state. Although many of the field’s most important developments can be seen only by examining a variety of substantive and normative issues together, some of the conclusions are especially well grounded in individual chapters of the book, indicated here with the chapter authors’ names in parentheses.
