Abstract
If synchrotron losses are taken into account, the theory of diffusive shock acceleration leads to electron energy distributions which agree perfectly with those inferred from the observed synchrotron spectra of radio hot spots. This agreement is used to derive the physical parameters of the acceleration process from observables.
