Abstract

This paper describes a new MATLAB-based toolbox for frequency domain system identification. Frequency domain system identification is proven highly effective in supporting development of UAVs and eVTOL vehicles, which can reduce the cost and cycle of modeling and flight control system design. The motivation of the toolbox is presented firstly. Then the toolbox architecture is analyzed. Then main methods such as discrete Fourier transform, spectral analysis, overlapped windowing are described. To evaluate the effectiveness, the toolbox is compared with CIFER (Comprehensive Identification from Frequency Response), a similar but embargoed toolbox from NASA Langley Research Center. With the same flight data, the identification results show the new developed toolbox has similar functionality and performance to CIFER.
