Abstract

With the changing international landscape, since the end of the twentieth century, major international multilateral meetings (including world-class expos and sports events) have become more frequent in official exchanges between countries. This trend is related to the way of solving newly-emerging international issues, like climate change and terrorism, and the evolution and transformation of the global governance models. Official multilateral exchanges are wide-ranging, large-scale, and difficult-to-organize. Therefore, compared with official bilateral exchanges, they have the following salient differences, when it comes to international diplomatic etiquette.
