Abstract

 In 1984 and 2005, in the dredging work in the “water fortress”(水城) in Penglai (蓬莱), four Yuan and Ming shipwrecks were unearthed successively and nominated respectively as Penglai No. 1, Penglai No. 2, Penglai No. 3 and Penglai No. 4 by discovery time. They are generally called “Penglai Ancient Shipwrecks”. It is an important discovery in the area of shipwreck and seaport studies in China. They are of great value for studying the historical changes of Dengzhou (登州) Port and its maritime transportation in Yuan and Ming dynasties.
