Abstract

Nan’ao No. 1 shipwreck site is located in Sandianjin sea area in southeast of Nan’ao County, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is a merchant ship departing from Yuegang Port of the Wanli Reign in the Ming Dynasty. The shipping routes are connected to the Manila galleon trade across the Pacific Ocean. Plenty of blue and white wares made in Zhangzhou kiln and Jingdezhen kiln have been found at the shipwreck site. It is one of the earliest multi-cabin wooden ships in China. Guang’ao shipwreck is a wooden warship of the Ming Zheng Regime active in Chaozhou and Shantou coastal areas in late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. Late Ming artefacts with inscriptions have been discovered.
