Rohingya Refugee Crisis in Myanmar

Abstract

As the ICJ is yet to pronounce its verdict in the case of Rohingya genocide, the recent coup of 2021 could become a bigger hurdle for thousands of Rohingyas to get justice through this international platform. The Myanmar army, which is the main culprit, has already captured the country, deposing civilian elected government using the military coup in 2021. The Rohingyas are scared of getting more tortured for the next one year of emergency. The current chapter attempts to explore the problems and difficulties that Rohingya refugees are facing in their host country. This thematic analysis is also aimed to find out responses from regional and international states and the short and long-term solutions to the Rohingya refugee crisis. By analyzing the stories and experiences of various Rohingya refugees from staying in different countries, including the Bangladesh refugee camp, USA, UK, Turkey, Germany, Canada, and so on, this chapter highlights their problem, concerns, demands, and future prospects as Rohingya.
