Abstract
How does one minimize if not eradicate terrorism? This volume has proposed various steps that could be undertaken. These include: improving women and promoting more liberal Islam in Muslim societies, recognizing that terrorism is not a socio-political aberration but one mode of warfare, beefing up the capabilities of the armed forces—shifting them away from preparation for conventional to asymmetric warfare and cutting off terrorist financing—through, for instance, environmental crime. Beyond the terrorist group itself, broader conflict dynamics in the society needs to be addressed. This entails better governance, more inclusive, governance, more responsive governance and ultimately more democratic governance. This is essential for the purposes of an inclusive society, to eradicate grievances to be exploited by terror groups and to enhance the legitimacy of the state vis-à-vis the terrorists.
