Abstract
Polar code is a paradigm shift in the domain of channel coding, especially when considering 5G and future mobile generations. In this paper, Polar code with the concatenation of additional assistance bits such as cyclic redundancy check (CRC) and parity-check (PC) bits is appreciated for improvement in error correction performance. CRC-aided CA polar code, and Parity-check concatenated PC-polar code designs are discussed. We also investigate the hybrid design of the polar code, concatenated with both PC and CRC bits to attain maximum benefits from the assistance bits. It is shown that the hybrid concatenated design of polar code outperforms both the CA polar and PC concatenated polar code designs, especially for short block lengths.
