Abstract
A mathematical model of metal inert-gas (MIG) welding arc is established based on the theory of hydrodynamics and electromagnetism. The model is calculated with FLUENT fluid analysis software, UDS custom scalar equations, and UDF custom functions. Simulate the distribution laws of arc temperature field, arc plasma fluid velocity and arc pressure with or without additional magnetic field. Meanwhile, do experiments to validate the simulate results, and it is well consistent with the experimental results and measured results of the literature.
