Abstract
This dictionary is based upon the original cards typed out by Stimson in the period from 1929–1938. As such they represent his distillations of meaning from the field data and from informants with whom he was engaged in full time research during that period. The definitions benefit fully from the fact that Stimson’s mind was completely free to devote its entire attention to the adequacy of his work. They suffer only from the fact that the processes of final integration could not be concluded at that time, when the material was so fresh and informants available.
