Abstract
What is the role of comparative law and the comparative lawyer in law reform? That comparative law provides a pool of models to choose from when law reform is planned is shown to be one of the most important practical functions of comparative law. As legislatures look forward they also look sideways. The same is true of the courts. Is this a use of comparative law? Is this a proper role for comparative law? Comparative lawyers do not all agree on the answers.
