Abstract
The chapter begins with the new centre-left cabinet. Its policies led to Randstad and Green Heart becoming as central as ever, signaling the reinstatement of growth management as being at the core of national planning. The international position of the Netherlands receded somewhat into the background. We conclude by exploring the future of growth management and by reporting on far-reaching proposals for the reform of intergovernmental relations.
