Part of the book series: Philosophical Studies Series ((PSSP,volume 83))

Abstract

In my comments, I will spend most of my time on Moore’s paradox—I want to raise some questions, first about just what problem the paradox poses, and what counts as a solution to it; second, about what solution to the problem is being proposed, and how it relates to what Wittgenstein said and thought about Moore’s paradox. But as Professor Goldstein says, he follows a circuitous path in his paper, and I can’t resist a brief comment about a bit of the scenery that he passes by on his route to his solution to the paradox. So before getting to Moore’s paradox I will first take a look at the story of Mei-Li.
