Abstract
The vast majority of salivary gland diseases are inflammatory, neoplastic, or a result of radiation. Even though the clinical signs and symptoms are often sufficiently characteristic to allow a preliminary diagnosis, laboratory tests and radiologic studies are frequently necessary in cases of doubt or for confirmation and further evaluation of the clinical diagnosis.
