Abstract
Most procedures currently in use to describe evaporation in hydrologic models involve several parameters, characterizing the turbulent transport in the lower atmosphere and/or the moisture availability in the soil and the vegetation; it is still very difficult to determine these parameters a priori. Research in a number of areas will lead to a better understanding of the relevant physical mechanisms.
