Abstract
In this chapter, we move away from those aspects of purpose constructions that may have a bearing on their structural, syntactic characterization, and consider the semantic nature of the predication that obtains between the purpose clause and its antecedent. We thus move away from the particulars of the syntactic theories that we have been opposing to each other in the course of the foregoing discussion.
